Description
This programme covers a range of detailed anatomy and physiology, neural links and integrations that explore how the upper gastro-intestinal tract is organised in relation to itself and also to the somatic container and diaphragm in which it exists.
In infants the abdominopelvic cavity pressures must develop with infant behaviours, and also infant movements and the intramural pressures for the stomach must integrate into this.
There are a number of combined somatovisceral afferent / efferent dynamics to explore, so get a sense of reflux as being a part of one's body schema, and not just a failure of the diaphragm or immaturity of the cardiac sphincter, for example.
Osteopathic concepts, evidence frameworks and approaches to care for infant reflux are included.
