This course is ideal for all manual therapists including osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists and sports therapists.

 

Course Description

The increase in homeworking over the Pandemic has resulted in many people working at sub-optimal computer workstations. Gain the skills to analyse a work environment and provide simple and cost-effective advice to minimise the risk of MSK injury.

 

This course has been designed for manual therapists to give them the skills to assess and advise patients on their work or leisure activities from an ergonomic perspective.

 

Gain the:

ability to evaluate patients in relation to their working environment – computer workstations and manual tasks
ability to train patients in ergonomics so that they are more aware of how to prevent injury
knowledge and skills to support your patients with injuries or problems influenced by their workplace environment
the knowledge to allow you to go into a workplace and undertake DSE and Manual Handling assessments.

The increase in homeworking over the pandemic has resulted in many people working at sub-optimal computer workstations, which can lead to musculoskeletal injury if over a prolonged period. This course will give you the skills to analyse your patient’s work environment and provide advice to make simple and cost-effective improvements.

The course covers the Display Screen Equipment (DSE) regulations including legal requirements, correct workstation setup, chair selection, specialist equipment, environmental considerations and break advice.  It also includes how to safely use mobile DSE such as laptops, tablets and smart phones.

You will be given the knowledge to competently to go into a workplace and offer DSE training and undertake assessments.

The course will also look at manual tasks and cover the manual handling regulations, including risk assessment and risk reduction.

David Annett is a practising osteopath and freelance ergonomics consultant. His degree in ergonomics coupled with over 30 years’ experience in this discipline mean he is ideally placed for advising manual therapists in this area.
