Course Description
“Cranial Nerves in Clinical Practice: A Prosection-Based Workshop for Rehabilitation Professionals” is a two-day, hands-on continuing professional development (CPD) activity designed for clinicians working in neurological, musculoskeletal, vestibular, or pain rehabilitation. Held in a university-based prosection laboratory, this workshop offers an in-depth exploration of cranial nerve anatomy, function, and clinical relevance through expertly guided video demonstrations, structured lab sessions, and applied clinical correlation lectures. Participants will gain the skills to identify and locate all 12 cranial nerves, understand their fibre types and functional roles, and confidently integrate this knowledge into neurological assessments and interpretation of clinical signs. Open to a broad range of healthcare professionals—including chiropractors, osteopaths, physiotherapists, GPs, nurses, and allied health practitioners—this immersive and anatomy-rich experience bridges foundational neuroanatomy with practical, patient-centred application.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
Identify and locate all 12 cranial nerve pairs and describe their main fiber constitution and functions.
Recognize the origin, course and distribution of cranial nerves
Apply neuroanatomy to inform the execution of clinical neurological assessments
Apply neuroanatomy to inform the interpretation of clinical signs and symptoms associated with dysfunction or damage of individual cranial nerves
