Description
This is an evidenced based and in depth analysis of approaches to infants and young babies with plagiocephaly, torticollis and head turn preference.
This programme includes 4.5 hours of lecture recording, delivered in 4 separate sections.
The presentation includes various detailed points on the anatomical, physiological, and mechanical aspects of plagiocephaly and torticollis, along with comments on osteopathic techniques and management considerations.
The webinar provides a comprehensive overview of plagiocephaly and torticollis from an osteopathic and evidence based perspective, emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach in both assessment and treatment. It highlights the role of early intervention, proper motor use, and positioning in the self-correction of plagiocephaly, while also detailing the anatomical and physiological considerations critical to understanding and managing the conditions. It updates models of cranial function, the role of autonomic NS and sensory-motor processing, and includes analysis of infant state regulation, infant led movement, postural development and dynamics such as primitive reflexes, brain circulation, fluid and hydraulic dynamics, respiratory and body cavity dynamics and much more.
Caroline has many years experience in teaching and reviewing paediatric osteopathy, and brings an engaging and in depth analysis to all her lectures.
Caroline uses evidence informed practice, critically, whilst ensuring the inductive, intuitive and highly somatophysiological constructs in osteopathy are not forgotten or overlooked. Caroline always strives to consider the relevance and scientific rational in both traditional and emergent concepts in osteopathy and goes beyond older / outdated models such as reciprocal tension and unidirectional flow of CSF in her approach to brain and central nervous system function. This talk is suitable for novices and expert osteopaths interested in paediatric practice.
