• I am a registered Osteopath (since 2008), insured with the Institute of Osteopathy, currently looking for a position as an associate Structural / Cranial Osteopath with a very keen interest in Classical/ Visceral Osteopathy, available to work Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. My previous working background includes IT (11 years) and Retail (3 years) with a change in direction in 2004, when I decided to retrain as an Osteopath at the BSO. The reason for retraining as an Osteopath was for a better quality of life, and to help people who can't seem to get the help they need through conventional avenues. I had experienced this myself in my twenties (1990s), picking up sports injuries that sadly were not covered or often ignored by the NHS, luckily, I had access to local Osteopaths and an in house Physio. Since graduating in 2008, I’ve worked in practices largely treating acute patients and some clinics that treat mainly maintenance patients, which has provided me with the opportunity and freedom to “treat what you find” and to think/work more holistically, by trying to unravel case histories, where I find it helps to understand a patient’s journey and treat the patient and not just the injury at hand, which I believe has helped me to become a more rounded Osteopath. I do find in today’s busy and exhausting digital lives, it’s important to impart to patients, be it post treatment and/ or lifestyle changes, that through rest/down time and controlled movement, will improve the chance of the body’s ability to repair through cleaning and healing. Other lifestyle changes that I believe help to reduce the risk of further serious injuries are, regular treatments regardless of whether the patient has an injury, an awareness of a good diet, hydration/juicing, reducing stress levels and the importance of lengthening muscles. As a member of the Waltham Forest Osteopathic Group (WFOG I feel I have greatly expanded my knowledge base. This group arranges regular monthly CPD meetings often by consultant physicians who present seminars on their specialist subjects from reading MRIs to surgical techniques. WFOG also organise their own in house CPD courses for its members such as First Aid, Prosection, Kinesiology Taping, Spiral Stabilization, Scoliosis courses etc. which I feel benefits patients.
